This week, EVIHDAF convened a strategic working session with the Permanent Secretary of Cameroon’s Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) to advance the Case Study on Big Catch-up (BCU) Immunization Activities.
The session served as a critical checkpoint in the research and engagement process, with discussions centered around five key dimensions:
- Progress to date: From the successful launch of the study’s steering committee to the formal ethics clearance, the groundwork for robust implementation has been firmly laid.
- Review of existing data: Ongoing analysis of secondary data sources is enriching the evidence base and shaping targeted areas of inquiry.
- Primary data tools: Data collection tools have been finalized, with stakeholder input playing a crucial role in ensuring relevance and contextual sensitivity.
- Training preparation: Planning is underway to build capacity among field data collectors, a step essential to ensuring quality and consistency in upcoming fieldwork.
- Partner workshop planning: Early coordination has begun for a cross-country workshop in September, where Cameroon’s experience will contribute to a broader regional & global dialogue on immunization strategies and learnings.
At the core of this initiative lies a commitment to collaboration, transparency, and evidence-informed action. As the Case Study unfolds, it promises to generate critical insights that can inform and strengthen immunization efforts not just in Cameroon, but across the region and globally.
Stay tuned for more updates as we move from insight to impact.
