Dr. Yazoume Ye has more than 17 years of experience in malaria epidemiology and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and survey design and implementation, and he has an excellent understanding of health information systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Epidemiology and Public Health from the University of Heidelberg Medical School in Germany. His research interests include impact evaluation of national-scale malaria control interventions and malaria epidemiology, and he has an extensive record of publications in renowned peer-reviewed journals and has made presentations at international conferences, primarily in malaria epidemiology. He is experienced in providing technical assistance on the development of M&E strategies and supporting country programs on developing surveillance and routine information systems for malaria.
Dr. Yé has trained more than 300 health professionals in malaria M&E and surveillance from malaria endemic countries in sub-Sahara Africa. He has a good understanding of the global malaria strategy, particularly in the context of the elimination agenda, and he has extensive networks in the global malaria community, particularly through his involvement in the Roll Back Malaria (RBM) Monitoring and Evaluation Reference Group (MERG). Through the MERG, he has made significant contributions to the development of tools to support countries and implementing partners to better monitor progress and measure achievement. Dr. Yé has a good understanding of data and is skilled in descriptive and inferential analyses. He has designed and implemented several national and multinational impact evaluation studies.
