Hadiza Kadri, MD, MPH

Country Representative & Research Officer, EVIHDAF, Niger

Dr. Hadiza is the Country Representative & Research Officer of EVIHDAF in Niger. She is based in Niamey and liaises with Niger’s Directorate General of Population and Reproductive Health (DGPSR) in general, and the Directorate of Family Planning (DPF) in particular. She has a variety of responsibilities, overseeing existing projects in Niger and, where appropriate, in other countries in the sub-region (e.g., Burkina Faso, Mali, Benin), leading and coordinating efforts to attract new projects, and facilitating a Working Group on Equity and Self-Care in Family Planning in Niger, among others.

She began her career as a general practitioner, practicing at the national hospital in Niamey for nearly ten years. She was Deputy Director of the Niamey Regional Public Health Directorate and shortly thereafter, Technical Director of UNFPA/Government programs for two years. She was then Head of the Maternal Health Division for 3 years.

Until May 2022, she was an executive assistant to the Director General of Population and Reproductive Health at a highly strategic level in the health pyramid. She participated in the elaboration of the country’s strategic and policy documents such as the Health Development Plan, the Plan for Maternal Death Surveillance and Response, the National Action Plan for Family Planning, the Plan for the Prevention of Teenage Pregnancy, the Strategy for the Fight against Female Genital Fistula, and the Law on Reproductive Health. She has also participated in several surveys including the Reproductive Health (RH) commodity security survey, the emergency obstetric and neonatal care survey.

She holds a Doctorate in Medicine from the Abdoul Moumouni Dioffo University in Niamey; and a Master’s degree in Public Health, specializing in Reproductive Health Management, from the University of Abomey Calavi in Cotonou, Benin.
